Trial Lessons

Most people start gliding with a trial lesson. Flying with a British Gliding Association trained instructor, your two-seat glider is towed up to 2,000 feet where it is released to gently float high above the airfield. During the flight your instructor will show you how the controls work and you will have the opportunity to fly the glider. Trial lessons last around 15 minutes and at the end of your flight the instructor will bring the glider back to the airfield and land it. A trial lesson also entitles you to three month's temporary membership of the club.

How to Book

We book flights in the morning and the afternoon on flying days. The bookings are usually made for 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 am and 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30 pm.

Bookings made up until the end of May can usually be fitted in giving about a week's notice. Bookings made for the busy Summer months; June, July and August may require two or three weeks notice, sometimes more depending on how busy we are at the time. We would advise you to make your booking as soon as you have decided upon a day and date. Winter bookings can usually be made on the day.

If your flight is cancelled due to unsatisfactory weather, your flight will then be re-booked.

Vouchers are valid for six months from the date of issue. If your voucher becomes out of date and no bookings have been made, then the voucher should be returned to the Gliding Club requesting an extension.
