April 2008
CRB Checks
The BGA has now decided, because of our duty of care to young people and others, that it is necessary for ALL instructors to be CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checked. This is a check in relation to criminal records and suitability to be working with children and also in the Community Flying programme. It will also be necessary to check other members who help on regular occasions with the Community Flying Programme. David Pye is our Child Protection Officer and he will be contacting all instructors and those involved in the Community Flying Programme in the very near future in order to conduct the checks. This will be done in the strictest confidence and all sensitive material will be destroyed. He will explain if required, any issues that you have with this. Each person will receive a certificate to their personal address when the check is complete. The cost of this check will be met by the Club.
NEW K21
Just for information, at the time of writing this, we still do not have a delivery date for the K21. We are told that it should be the end of April.
FLYING
We have now started 7 days a week flying and look forward to seeing more members during the week. The only proviso being that if you need instruction, please check prior to see if the Instructor has space for you.
INTERCLUB LEAGUE 2008
All those interested in participating or assisting, either in the team, just flying the tasks for their enjoyment & education or supporting as ground/launch crew, please contact David Pye asap. The first round is expected in May and he will need a team in place for then. Whatever your level of skill, I’m sure you’ll be welcomed.
TASK WEEK
If everything goes according to plan the Club should be holding Task Week on week commencing Saturday 23 August. Our Chairman is looking for help & support in running the field and helping out on the ground for task week. Please contact the office and leave your details if you can help out.
